AUAF and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed to train 92 members of Afghanistan’s diplomatic corps in intermediate and advanced English.

The goal is to equip the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the language skills necessary to succeed in the world of international diplomacy.

Netherlands Ambassador Hans Blankenberg said “This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate on something that will strengthen Afghanistan’s standing in key diplomatic fora.”

The training will be conducted by AUAF’s Professional Development Institute, which will offer a total of 1,024 hours of in-class training. Each participant will undergo 192 hours of intensive training over the course of one year. By the end of the program, participants will be expected to be proficient in spoken and written English, and to be familiar with common diplomatic terminology.

“This is a rigorous program of study,” noted AUAF Acting President, Dr. Athanasios Moulakis. “Participants will emerge with language and skills that will enable them to overcome many challenges in their profession.”
Mr. Obaid Adnan Nejati, Director of the Professional Development Institute, says of the program, “This is the culmination of hard work and much goodwill between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Netherlands, and ourselves. The program provides a high-quality, tailored training solution to our clients. We are looking forward to its success.”
